Guide · Where to stay

Chalet or hotel?

Both can make a perfect week. What each one gives you, and which we suggest for which group.

A chalet kitchen and dining room with mountain views

A chalet: your house, your rhythm.

A private chalet suits families and groups who want space and their own schedule: breakfast when everyone is up, one long table, a living room to meet in after skiing. With a chef, dinner happens at home.

In Megève we arrange twenty-two houses, twenty chalets and two apartments for 4 to 18 guests, many with an indoor pool, a spa or a cinema room. A concierge prepares the stay, and chefs, butlers and ski instructors are arranged on request. On the Arlberg, pepper-collection has chalets such as The Barn in Oberlech, with a butler around the clock and a private chef.

A hotel: everything looked after.

A hotel suits couples, smaller families and anyone who wants a spa, restaurants and a team that looks after the details. Several hotels we know have very large spas: the Interalpen-Hotel Tyrol more than 5,400 m², Alpin Resort Sacher Seefeld 4,700 m² and the Schlosshotel Kitzbühel 3,000 m². At the Kempinski Palace Engelberg, private instructors are arranged in the hotel and boots are dried for the next day.

Or both.

Some places offer both. At Hotel & Chalet Aurelio in Lech, the Club Chalet has eight rooms for up to 16 guests, with its own spa and indoor pool, and the hotel next door.

Which one for you.

Families with young children and groups of friends: usually a chalet, for the space and the rhythm. Couples, and anyone who wants a spa and restaurants under one roof: usually a hotel. Tell us who is travelling, and we suggest one or two places that fit, with the reasons, and arrange the stay together with coaching, transfers and the rest of the week.
